This is Goose, or “G”, a very sweet guy with a ton of potential and some learning to do.  He’s about 2 years old and has lived outside all his life.  That means he only does his business outside – a truly house-trained pup.  It also means he needs to learn what living indoors encompasses and how to really make connections with his humans. He is getting there.

We’ve worked with him by taking him into the meet n greet room and sitting with him and talking to him – he hid with his head in the corner the first few times and didn’t understand about getting up on the couch for a comfy lay down and cuddles. He would accept stroking and pats and soft conversation.  He eventually began to come out of the corner and sit nearby for pats.  He would not take treats out of your hand – now he does once he’s back in his kennel.

G is a strong guy and when on leash he can be quite pully if he wants to go somewhere or visit another pup. He listens really well – always has.  He learns commands like easy, wait, sit, etc. very well – just to please his human as he still won’t take treats outside his kennel. He also likes to jog/run when allowed, so could be quite playful with some experience at it.

He loves to give and get hugs – he recently will jump up to give hugs and to get pats, hugs and big smiles from his human. As big as he is, he is quite gentle. The closest thing to a live teddy bear you’ll find.

Upon return to his kennel, he still slinks back to his bed and one has to literally lift his head to get his collar off. He is always cooperative. He used to cower on his bed in the back of the kennel – he now sits at the door to see what’s going on. He can still be timid upon meeting a new person for the first time, but just a few kind words and pats will help him relax.

He seems to be interested in some other pups, so having a “trainer” pup in his new home might be nice to encourage his education.  They would need to meet and spend some time together to make sure they are compatible.

G would love a family to teach him about being in a home and with a family he can trust. He is a loving pup and needs a very loving family to either foster or adopt him. He is ready for this next step.

This guy is loved by all who have met him and spent time with him.  We all see his great potential as he continues on his path.
